In 1960, John Wayne directed the most expensive film ever made up to that time, ‘The Alamo‘. Through his retelling of the story of the battle, he created a whole new generation of Alamo enthusiasts, including the current caretaker of Alamo Village, the set built by Wayne just outside San Antonio, Texas, and now closed to the public.

Alamo is a portrait of obsession as well as a story of fiction versus reality that contemplates cinema’s influence over our minds and characters.
